Quality policy

The Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) is a public law entity, with its own legal personality, administrative, technical and economic autonomy, and full capacity to act, in accordance with the functions and responsibilities specified in its Statutes (catalan version).

The Institute promotes and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) for the continuous improvement of its functions, through the structuring of the activity and the focus on the client. From this transversal organizational promotion, the ICGC holds the quality certificate updated under the ISO 9001:2015 standard about the production of:

The QMS has become a corporate tool that helps to have a global and integrated view of the production processes, to manage the available resources and to evaluate regularly their effectiveness and efficiency.

The ICGC’s management declares its commitment to the technological innovation and the improvement of the quality of its products and services, for a greater s for a greater customer and citizen satisfaction  and for an optimal use of resources, watching over the security of the information, and  for the pollution prevention and the preservation and respect for the environment.

To this end, the QMS is structured in accordance with the following commitments:

  • Periodically review the Quality System and, with the collaboration of the company's staff, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of production processes.
  • Work to respond to the present and future needs of users and customers.
  • Promote the incorporation of new technologies and work techniques in the field of cartographic production.
  • Promote the use of digital cartography and the harmonization of geographic data to support the INSPIRE Directive (Directive 2007/2 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, 25-4-2007, L108/1).
  • Continuously improve the activities of the ICGC and reduce its environmental impact, as established in its environmental, energy, and occupational health and safety policy.

The ICGC’s management is committed to keeping up to date this Quality Policy putting the necessary resources at its disposal for its application.
