Georeference

Geoinformation distributed by the ICGC is georeferenced, i.e., it has coordinates.

In the case of the MrSid format, although images include directly the georeference, they attach a text file with sdw extension in order to, that applications that need it, to locate them into their coordinates.

The same way, a text file with jgw extension would correspond to the JPEG format and a text file with tfw extension would correspond to the TIFF format.

So, If the format of the MrSid file is changed and the georeference is to be kept, we suggest including an external file with the corresponding extension (sdw files change to tfw when the image changes to TIFF).
